Speaker Spotlight: Emily Schapira, C-PACE expert & Executive Director for the Philadelphia Energy Authority
Come meet Emily Schapira, a longtime champion for energy efficiency,
at the KEEA conference this fall!
Emily Schapira has held leadership positions throughout her efficiency-focused career, from Associate Director of Sustainability and Leadership at Wharton to Director of Global Accounts in Lighting at WESCO Distribution, a global electrical supply company. In 2011 Emily joined the board of directors for Philadelphia Energy Authority and in 2016 was hired to manage the Philadelphia Energy Campaign, a $1 billion energy efficiency initiative that created over 10,000 jobs.
Now, as Executive Director, Emily oversees more than 15 programs and projects designed to ensure that Philadelphia’s clean energy economy benefits everyone. Under her leadership PEA encourages and facilitates energy efficiency and renewable energy development in Philadelphia’s schools, small businesses, municipal buildings, and homes – creating jobs, lowering bills, and ensuring healthier and more resilient future along the way.
KEEA and Emily work together toward common energy goals, and last year we named her the 2017 Energy Champion for Excellence in Government Policy. At our conference on October 25th and 26th, we will sit down with Emily to talk about Act 30, or C-PACE, Pennsylvania’s new legislation that facilitates loans for energy efficiency and clean energy projects. Emily has been engaged with this legislation since long before the bill passed into law, and her commanding knowledge of Philadelphia’s different sectors and energy policy will be critical as the financing tool is implemented throughout the city.
Thank you, Emily, for being a leader in Pennsylvania’s energy efficiency revolution!
